Green Beans Almondine

Green beans almondine is a dish that has MANY interpretations. We'll share several variations here, but feel free to share your favorite green bean almondine recipe with us as well and/or rate one that you tried here.

green beans almondine

Here's our favorite basic green bean almondine recipe. Make it once following the recipe and then try adding some of the variations OR your own experimental variations. Of course, tell us how they turned out!

Green Beans Almondine:

Ingredients:

  • Fresh Green Beans (whole or already trimmed)
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 4 ounces Almonds, sliced
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Steps:

  1. Saute almonds in butter until lightly browned.
  2. Boil or steam green beans (or saute right in the same pan for a slightly less heathy recipe.)
  3. Drain beans in a colander (if not sauteed.)
  4. Toss the beans with almonds, add salt and pepper to taste, and serve.

Variations to Green Beans Almondine:

  • For a more asian flavor, make a green bean garlic almond recipe. See recipe below.
  • For a more "grown-up" taste, saute mushrooms before adding almonds to the butter mixture.

Green Bean Garlic Almond Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Fresh Green Beans (whole or already trimmed)
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1-2 teaspoons Garlic, minced
  • 4 ounces Almonds, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons Soy Sauce

Steps:

  1. Saute garlic and almonds in butter until almonds are lightly browned.
  2. Boil or steam green beans (or feel free to saute them right in the same pan!)
  3. Drain beans in a colander (if not sauteed.)
  4. Toss the beans with garlic-almond mixture
  5. Sprinkle soy sauce over beans, stir, and serve.

Here's more of a casserole version of green beans almondine. It's yummy but definitely NOT the healthiest of green bean almondine recipes! Of course, getting your kids to eat ANY green beans is better than none at all so give it a try if they prefer casseroles!

Green Beans Almondine Casserole:

Ingredients:

  • 1 (10 ounce) package Frozen Green Beans
  • 1 (10 1/2 ounce) can Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 4 ounces Almonds, sliced or slivered
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter, sliced thin
  • 1 (7 ounce) can ready-to-serve French Fried Onion Rings
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Arrange frozen green beans in baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix mushroom soup and milk together.
  4. Pour 1/2 of soup-milk mixture over green beans.
  5. Arrange onion rings on top.
  6. Drizzle remaining soup mixture on top.
  7. Sprinkle with slivered almonds.
  8. Place slices of butter over the entire casserole.
  9. Bake 35 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
