    <title>Healthy Snacks for Festival Season</title>
    <link>http://www.healthy-recipes-for-kids.com/healthy-recipes-for-kids-blog.html#Healthy-Snacks-for-Festival-Season</link>
<description>It&#39;s &quot;Festival Season&quot; in Atlanta! I love the Springtime festivals here. Each weekend, there&#39;s at least one neighborhood in the City having a festival. Their focus, size, and &quot;flavor&quot; vary, but they all have unique artist booths, good beer, great music, and junk food!

While festival food has improved greatly over the past few years (you can now get salads, gyros, and even vegetable-laden stir fry dishes,) the kids&#39; food is still the standard hot dog, hamburger, or corn dog. These dishes are overpriced, of course, and come with french fries and a sugary drink. Now, I have no problem with this kind of kids meal in a silly hat every once in a while... but I&#39;m not crazy about doing it every weekend in April. The wasted money alone is enough to find an alternative (after all, I could be spending that money on artwork!)

Here&#39;s what I&#39;ve come up with: Pack a healthy lunch - maybe slightly less healthy than you would normally pack - with some of their favorites (Gogurts, fruit chews,...) and feed them preferably before they see the silly hat meals. Reserve some of the snacks to offer throughout the day. If the tradition is to eat festival food and your kids complain, you can always buy them an ice cream or frozen lemonade as a treat. They&#39;d likely ask for that anyway even if they ate the corn dog and fries, right?</description>
